iCentre Clothing Bank

Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund has received backing from Nottinghamshire Innovation Centres in its aim to raise funds to support local ex-service men and women.  The Centres are run by Oxford Innovation which agreed to have one of the Fund’s clothing recycling banks placed at the Mansfield iCentre on the Oakham Business Park.

The collection bank has been provided by the Fund’s recycling partner Savanna Rags International Ltd which will make a substantial donation to the fund for every tonne of materials placed in the bank.

iCentre Manager, Paul Mallatratt said that the company is keen to be seen supporting local service men and women; “We were impressed with the way Mansfield’s Heroes Memorial Fund is now raising funds to help organisations like the Mercian Benevolent Fund which helps injured soldiers returning home. The bank is easily accessed in our car park and it’s already being used by our customers. We hope that it generates lots of funds and stops clothing going to landfill sites.”

A spokesman for the Heroes’ Fund welcomed the support from the Mansfield iCentre saying: “Business parks and industrial estates are an excellent place for one of our recycling banks as they are well populated and people generally use cars to get to work, so it’s easy to throw a bag of clothing in the back and drop it off for recycling. With lots of donations from the public we can help even more retired and injured forces personnel.” The Heroes Fund can also arrange collections of clothing and textiles.
