The Transcript

"Dear Colleagues and friends, members of the Press, Ladies and Gentlemen. It is so wonderful that we are gathered here today, in the service of God's children whom, like all of us were created in His own image. Yes we are gathered here today to share ideas on how we can join hands to make a difference in society particularly among the less privileged among us. We are gathered here today as stakeholders with different expertise and experience in community work.

National Police Aid Convoys

I am aware that we share a lot in common as our programmes are intended for humanitarian causes. We are committed to doing everything possible to making a difference for the better in society. We do this knowing that we cannot succeed without the Blessing and the Guidance of our Creator, the Lord God Almighty, who has been our help in ages past. Only with His help can we succeed as servants of the people. In this way, we know that we are fulfilling His purpose in this our one world.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the world today is facing many challenges. challenges of illiteracy and ignorance. Challenges of diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, especially here in the developing countries. Challenges that demand undivided attention. Challenges that demand collective action in order to address them effectively. For there is no one organisation that can deal with these challenges on its own. We need to join hands if we are to succeed in implementing our shared programmes.

I am therefore delighted that today, on behalf of thousands of children in need, we are receiving this a generous donation from a UK-based charity namely, the Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoys. I wish in this regard, to ask David Scott who is representing this group to convey a deep appreciation and gratitude to his organisation for this donation. We are thankful to the members of this group for their love and compassion for their fellow human beings on the half of whom they have managed to source the donations. We realised that they spent a lot of time and energy to collect these items which are being donated today. To them we say thank you very much for remembering us. This donation will be distributed in our institutions not only in Lusaka, but also in our rural areas where the need is even greater.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Lord has taught us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves, to do unto others as we would love them do unto us. By this donation, the Nottingham Police Aid Convoys, are practicing this teaching to the letter. We cannot thank them enough for their infinite generosity.

David, I would like to appeal to your organisation to continue helping us in this wonderful way. Your help will touch the lives of many children in our country. I wish in this regard, to appeal to my colleagues in the Kenneth Kaunda Children of Africa Foundation to ensure that this donation reaches the intended children in need. We must ensure that this is done fairly.

May the Good Lord God Almighty God bless and guide you all.

I thank you for your attention."
